How the hours change during the year

In 2026 the Upper Belvedere stayed open until 19:00 from 15 July to 31 August. The official site shows this only for 2026, so we cannot say whether the extended hours return in 2027. We also did not find the Belvedere's hours for Christmas and New Year on the official site, so please check them before you go.

The Belvedere sometimes opens in the evening for a free event. Free Friday Night on 23 October 2026 offers free entry to the Upper Belvedere from 18:00 to 21:00 with a free time-slot ticket. We do not know how often it is held.

Time slots and entry

The Upper and Lower Belvedere need a time-slot ticket. For Belvedere 21 you choose only the day. With a combined ticket, the time slot is for the Upper Belvedere, and you visit the other venues on the same day, before or after, within their opening hours. The official site says that with an online ticket you can go directly to the entrance, and that a short wait is possible at peak times.

The Belvedere says it is busiest between 11:00 and 14:00. The Upper Belvedere opens at 9:00 and the Lower at 10:00, so the first and the last slots are the quietest ones, which is our reading of the official data.

Gardens, cafés and shops

The palace gardens are free: March 7:00 to 19:00, April 6:30 to 20:00, May to August 6:30 to 21:00, September 6:30 to 20:00, October 6:30 to 19:00 and November to February 7:00 to 17:30. The Privy Garden is open from 10:00 to 18:00 with a valid ticket. The sculpture garden at Belvedere 21 is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00, until 21:00 on Thursday, and closes in bad weather.

The Schlosscafé in the Upper Belvedere is open from 9:00 to 18:00, the Parkcafé at the Lower Belvedere from 10:00 to 18:00 and the Lucy Bar at Belvedere 21 from 11:00 to 18:00, until 21:00 on Thursday. The shop in the palace needs a ticket, and the shop at the ticket office does not.

How long it takes

The Belvedere does not recommend a length of visit and says the duration is not limited. The guided tours sold on Tiqets last 2 hours, and the Belvedere's audio tours run from 40 to 60 minutes. If you want to see the Klimt rooms, the Marble Hall and the terrace, plan generously; that is our own estimate, not an official figure.
